On holidays

Hi, just a brief note to let you know that I'm currently in Malaysia on holidays and enjoying the warm weather very, very much.  I'm off to Krabi in Thailand in a couple of days and will have more opportunity for internet access so I'll try to post then.

What a work environment...

This work space was created by Alwill design studio for Human advertising agency.  I would jump out of bed with joy if I was off to this gorgeous work space every week day...

As usual, bigger & better images are available direct from the Alwill site (that's because being technologically illiterate I have no idea how to resize/enlarge images!!).  It's worth taking a look at Alwill design studio's site to see some of their other gorgeous projects.

Etcetera

Be still my beating heart...my fave stylist Sibella Court of The Society Inc. and Changing Rooms fame has a new book in the pipeline - I believe it's due to be released at the end of this month.  Another tome for the Christmas stocking! Here's a pic of the cover...

Today I love...

...this house by Interni Architects & Designers.  If I had this sort of shelf space in a library I think I would become a recluse!

Better/clearer images are available on the Interni site.

Monday shop post - Third Drawer Down

What's in the third drawer down in your kitchen?  If I was really, really lucky I'd have a stack of 'Third Drawer Down' tea towels like these beauties...
'Can we dance?' by Camilla Engman

'Dandelion Tea' by Betsy Walton

'Hairy Lady' by Camilla Engman

'Waesche Regen' by Lilli Hartman

I actually have the 'Waesche Regen' tea towel, but I couldn't bring myself to use it to dry the dishes, so I stretched it over a canvas and it now sits on the very top shelf of my tiny little laundry (sorry the pic is so dull, but it was taken at night)...

Third Drawer Down works with well-known and up and coming artists to produce a wonderful range of textiles.  And, they don't only sell tea towels. They also sell (both online and through a range of stockists) goodies like...

Handkerchiefs...
How cute is 'Wombats Big Sleep'??

Pillow slips...

Stationery...like these pear post-it notes:
This amazing graphite hand that you could use to draw/write with (but I think it's far too beautiful for that)...

This wonderful watch accessory tape...

And this very quirky banana guard...
As silly as it seems, I'd like to buy one of these just to see if the banana fits into it properly!!

Anyway, Third Drawer Down, 'a Museum of Art Souvenirs' (as self-described on their site), is a terrific small independent business. It's physically located at 93 George Street, Fitzroy, but they sell their wares through many other fine homewares shops around Australia (and probably further afield too for all I know).

Winner of 'Madison Living'

Breakfast Out Bookmarked

Being a gal that loves eating breakfast out on the weekends (and weekdays too once every blue moon when I have the time), Idon't know how I've lived in Melbourne so long without knowing about the fabulous website Breakfast Out.  The site features very hip, happening Melbourne cafes that do wonderful breakfasts and great coffee. What's even better is that they divide the cafes up according to their locale - CBD, East, West, South and North.  I've made it my own personal mission to try every single breakfast place in the South and East sections (that's vaguely my neighbourhood).  So to start, here are some of my favourites both in town and out of town...

First up I'm going to pay a visit to Porgie and Mr Jones a.s.a.p...

And then maybe next on the agenda will be Mart 130 - it's located at a defunct tram stop/building in Middle Part. The name's pretty nifty too - it's tram spelt backwards, plus the old tram stop number 130.  Anyway, having friends in the area, I have it from a very reliable source that they have great food & coffee at Mart 130...

And I'd really like to visit Von Haus too if I ever find myself in the city for breakfast.  Really, I'd just love to visit this cafe to check out those gorgeous rustic walls first hand...

And while I'm in the city I think I'd have to pay a visit to the Brother Baba Budan cafe just to sneak a peek at all these chairs hanging from the ceiling. Pretty amazing huh...

Moving on right along, there are a few cafes in the Healesville/Yarra Valley region (about an hour's drive from Melbourne) that I'd like to visit too...

Harvest Cafe in Healesville - I love the communal table and overhead ladder strung with glass bottles and sweet little flowers...

I think the wall colour at the Belle Vedere creates a really wonderful ambience...

And finally, the Sweetwater Cafe located at the Chateau Yering winery in the Yarra Valley. I've actually been here for lunch, but that's no reason that I can't go back and sample their breakfast menu too...

You can check out Breakfast Out's selection of Melbourne and Sydney breakfast cafes/restaurants right here.

And last but not least...don't forget to leave a comment on my 200th post so you can go into the draw for the very gorgeous 'Madison Living' book I have as a giveaway.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend filled with lots of good friends, fine food and great times!
